Strategy Meets Steel-Toe Boots

I’ve spent my career inside operating businesses — not just advising from the outside.

From revenue operations to manufacturing environments to software sales and everything in between, I’ve always worked at the intersection of systems, structure, and growth.

I believe growth is engineered — not improvised.

Why Rooks?

A rook in chess is a piece focused around structure and control. In nature it is a highly intelligent bird, known for pattern recognition and adaptability.

Rooks Consulting & Design sits at the intersection of structure and vision.

Because growth doesn’t come from isolated tactics — it comes from understanding how the pieces fit together, and building systems that move with intention.

Meet Basile

The founder of Rooks Consulting & Design, and currently serving as the Revenue Operations Manager for a $300M millwork organization, Basile did not follow a typical career path.

Beginning in New York as a project manager for an “expert network”, during COVID he took a leap of faith (and a massive paycut) to become a woodworker in Massachusetts. Despite starting with no woodworking experience, he worked his way up the ladder, soon spinning up and running multiple departments across HR, Product, Sales, and Marketing.

After moving on to his current organization, he spent a year growing the custom wood door division by 25% YoY, before beginning as the Revenue Operations Manager, working with all divisions within the company. In this role he oversees a variety of functions, including CRM structure and optimization, sales process design, go to market strategies for different divisions, cross-functional system integration, sales enablement technology development, and more.

“I’m as comfortable on the shop floor as I am in a strategy or board meeting, working through how a process actually functions in practice. To be honest, I prefer to jump into the line and try it for myself when possible, to understand what the challenges really are. Whatever industry the client is in, I don’t approach consulting as theory or surface-level strategy, but as structured, implementable systems that work in the real world.”

How We Think About Growth

Most businesses don’t have a growth problem, they have a structure problem.

Revenue becomes unpredictable when systems are unclear, marketing feels weak when it isn’t tied into a trackable funnel, and teams struggle when processes live in people instead of documented systems.

Our work is grounded in a few core principles:

  • Systems over tactics - tactics create motion. Systems create outcomes.

  • Clarity before scale - if the current state isn’t understood, scaling only amplifies inefficiency.

  • Structure drives consistency - documented, aligned processes reduce variability and increase reliability.

  • Alignment over activity - more tools, more campaigns, and more effort don’t fix misalignment.

The goal isn’t to do more.

It’s to build systems that make growth more predictable, measurable, and sustainable.
